Retrofitting CNC Machine Tools

Very often a customer requires a CNC capability but finds it difficult to source a CNC machine to carry out the work currently being done by the existing manual machine. The current machine can be either fully rebuilt mechanically or maybe only minimal work is required, for example, reconditioning the slideways, replacing bearings and fitting of ballscrews etc. A new CNC system of the customer's choice, along with axis drives and software package, would be retrofitted to enhance the machine's production capabilities.

A full mechanical and electrical design capability is available for re-engineering/modifying machines.

The above Vertical Borer was a standard Webster Bennett Manual Turret type machine. Our brief was to fully rebuild the machine and retrofit with CNC control. The Turret was removed and replaced with an ISO 40 Ram and Tool changer, all of which were designed and manufactured "in house". Finally the machine was fitted with fully enclosed guarding to comply with current legislation.
